David Merrill, Executive Director, Board Member

David has served as Executive Director of the Alliance for the Wild Rockies and Administrative Director for the Great Bear Foundation both based in Missoula, Montana. He also worked on global warming issues for the Montana Environmental Information Center. David founded the National Global Warming Coalition (renamed GlobalWarmingSolution.Org) in November, 2003.
 
James Roof, Board Member

James "JR" Roof has been active in environmental and peace issues since the mid-1980's. From 1986-2000 he worked for Greenpeace in the United States and internationally, first as a door-to-door canvasser in Boston, and in his last position as one of the Senior Directors of Greenpeace worldwide based out of Amsterdam, The Netherlands as the Director of the Ships and Actions Division, one of the largest and most high-profile divisions in the organization. In 1995 and 1996, he co-founded The Ruckus Society and served as the Board Chair until January of 2002. Presently James lives in Missoula, Montana.
 
Vivian Stockman, Board Member

Vivian Stockman is Project Coordinator for the Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition, based in Huntington, West Virginia. OVEC educates and organizes people in regard to coal-related issues. The group also works to bring about true campaign finance reforms in West Virginia. Vivian has a BS cum laude with distinction in Environmental Communications from The Ohio State University.

She first became involved with OVEC in 1995, when OVEC helped her found the Concerned Citizens' Coalition of Roane, Calhoun and Gilmer Counties to fight a proposed mega pulp mill. Vivian authored CCC’s pro se appeal of an air permit for the defeated pulp mill. Vivian has had articles on mountaintop removal coal mining and the myth of “clean” coal published in national publications. Her photos have appeared in numerous publications, from newspapers to textbooks. In 1999, Vivian received the West Virginia Environmental Council's highest honor, the Mother Jones Award.
