Causes And Effects Of Global Warming

The earth’s climate has been in a constant state of fluctuation throughout its history. Of course there was the ice age but our planet has also gone through long periods of warmth. However, over the last 200 years the earth’s average temperature has been on a steady rise. This is the undeniable fact that our globe is getting warmer.

Causes

This change, known as global warming, is directly correlated with the Industrial Revolution. Ever since the Industrial Revolution humans have depended on the burning of fossil fuels as their primary source of energy. Burning fossil fuels, such as coal and oil, causes the emissions of dangerous greenhouse gases, predominantly CO2, into our atmosphere. Then these gases prohibit the heat from escaping into space, much like the glass panels of a greenhouse.

It is estimated that energy-related activities account for more than three-quarters of CO2 emissions. Of that three-quarters, more than half comes from stationary energy sources, such as power plants. While about a third comes from our transportation.

Money, Self Interest And Change – Are These The Real Obstacles To Solving Global Warming?

The US National Academy of Science warned of the climate impact of human activity way back in 1979 and since 2007 there is not a single scientific body of national or international standing that has maintained a dissenting opinion.

This does not mean that there are no dissenting voices. But they are from individual scientists or from bodies with scientific sounding names that are funded by the fossil fuel industry to ensure that ‘doubt’ remains a powerful disincentive to action. In his book Heat, George Monbiot dedicates an entire chapter to what he describes as ‘The Denial Industry’ and lists a number of fossil fuel funded organisations that make it their mission to. ‘take a consistent line on climate change: that the scientist is contradictory, the scientists are split, environmentalists are charlatans, liars or lunatics. And if the government took action to prevent global warming they would be endangering the global economy for no good reason. The findings those organisations dislike are labelled “junk science”The findings they welcome are labelled “sound science”.’ The most recent project that seemed to set out to assist the deniers’ case was the Berkeley Earth Surface Temperature which set out “to resolve current criticism of the former temperature analyses, and to prepare an open record that will allow rapid response to further criticism or suggestions.” But in a recent talk the project chair explained that BEST has been analyzing large quantities of data, they have started writing a draft report, and what he can say now is:

• “We are seeing substantial global warming.”
• “None of the effects raised by the [skeptics] is going to have anything more than a marginal effect on the amount of global warming.”

Carbon Consultancy

Carbon is ubiquitous on earth and no matter what activity one is involved into, there always a carbon footprint left. This carbon footprint actually leads to emission of green house gases. Every organization in their routing schedule is emitting carbon dioxide which is contributing to green house effect.  To reduce carbon dioxide in atmosphere, carbon consultancy suggests the carbon reduction procedures to the organizations, homes and people as contribution of even a single person is significant for carbon reduction.

understand the set up of the organization, home, institutions and calculate their carbon footprints. Awareness is the first step towards the remedy and similarly, calculation of carbon footprint helps in the carbon reduction. Carbon consultancy suggests some easy ways to reduce carbon emission, thereby decreasing the greenhouse effect.
